Permanent teeth coming in on top of baby teeth?

My daughter is 12 and has been very slow to lose her baby teeth. She is freaking out because she%26#039;s going to junior high this month and several of her permanent teeth are now coming in behind or on top of the baby teeth. In addition, the baby teeth are turning yellow, like maybe their root supply is cut off by the new tooth? We have a dentist appointment Thursday, but has anyone else experienced this? Will they just pull out the baby teeth (which are loose) and the permanent teeth will be OK? Thanks!

They will most likely remove the baby teeth so that the permanent teeth can start to grow into the right position. Don%26#039;t worry, although the new teeth are in the wrong position now, they almost always eventually move into the right position.
Reply:dont worry the dentist will know what to do. when i was around the same age the same thing happened. they just end up pulling out some teeth. its nothing
Reply:If the permanent teeth are coming out and the baby ones are in the way then they would prob pull out
Reply:the dentist will probably pull out the baby teeth and give her braces afterwards cause her teeth are not suppose to be growing in the back or the front direction. It won%26#039;t look right once the baby teeth are out, so i think she%26#039;ll need braces. My little cousin had the exact same thing happen to her when she was 10.
Reply:The dentist will probably pull out the baby teeth, especially since they%26#039;re loose anyway. There%26#039;s no way for us to know for sure if the permanent teeth will come in normally or not; I once had a tooth do this same thing (except the baby tooth wasn%26#039;t even loose and was just forced out by the permanent one) and it came in slightly crooked, but not so much that you can really see it. However, this may not even be the case and her teeth might come in fine; the dentist will be able to check it out and tell what will happen. As for the baby teeth turning yellow, it%26#039;s not because of anything with their %26quot;root supply%26quot; (they%26#039;re teeth, not plants); it%26#039;s more likely that they%26#039;re just taking on the yellowish hue of teeth that have already fallen out- this is fairly common with loose teeth.
Reply:The deciduous teeth are being pushed out or loosened by the permanent dentition%26#039;s eruption. This is the normal process so you have nothing to worry about.

The baby teeth appearing yellow is probably due to the permanent teeth being much whiter, it just makes them more noticeable.

Her dentist may or may not remove the deciduous teeth, it will depend on if she wants to pull them herself or have him do it. Most prefer to avoid the injection and do it themselves. There is also a charge for each ones removal which you may want to avoid if at all possible.

So if she%26#039;s freaking out, tell her to get busy working them loose! Let her eat some apples, pears or corn on the cob; anything that will require her to bite into forcing some pressure on these teeth. She will be fine and they will eventually come out.

The deciduous and permanent teeth being in place at the same time is common. This alone will not negate the need for orthodontic treatment. Her permanent dentition as they erupt will be evaluated at her next appointment. Most likely her dentist will want to take a pano x ray which will show all of the teeth, even those that aren%26#039;t erupted yet.

Hope I%26#039;ve been of some help, good luck!
Reply:This happened to my cousin. Her permanent teeth will be fine.

The dentist is going to pull out all the baby teeth that have permanent teeth growing in behind them. It%26#039;s a really easy procedure.
