Teeth gaps?

Do teeth gaps cause overbites or overjets? All of my bottom row teeth are straight but are smaller than my top set of teeth. My gap is in between my upper incisors, (top two front teeth) but is small, like i can%26#039;t fit that much in between it. There is a gum line thingy in between the two. My wisdom teeth haven%26#039;t grown in, because there are only gums after my bottom third molar. Will my wisdom teeth help the slight overbite. It%26#039;s where you can%26#039;t see your bottom teeth, but my bottom teeth are small

if your wisdom teeth aren%26#039;t in by 18-21, your doctor will assume they%26#039;re never coming in and you can get braces if you so choose. if your overbite was a concern of any kind, it would be fixed by now. no one has perfect dental alignment. but yes, your wisdom teeth should close the gap between your front teeth. finally, bottom teeth are supposed to be small. if your bottom teeth and top teeth are the same size, you look like a horse.

No, your 3rd molars will not help your slight overbite. Even if it will erupt, it will not help. You need braces, but before that, if there is a gum line tingy like what you said, in between your central incisors, let your dentist know about it and ask him if you need a frenectomy before you will have your braces.

1- lower teeth are usually smaller than upper teeth so this is normal.


2- about the gap between upper incisors, it%26#039;s most likely because you have a frenum with an attachment that extend beyond your incisors palatally. This can be removed by minor surgery and gap can be closed by braces.


3- Your wisdom teeth could be impacted inside the jaws or totally missing. a panoramic radiograph will help to know.


4- Recent studies show that wisdom teeth effect only 10% of population %26quot;occlusion wise%26quot; so I don%26#039;t think they will help the overbite.





So, the overbite could be due to DENTAL or SKELETAL abnormalities.





Dental: example : If upper teeth are inclined outward and lower teeth are inclined inward, this can cause overbite.


Skeletal: example: If upper jaw is protruded forward, an overbite is more likely to develop. and many other reasons...





If you are too concerned, you can see a dentist who will take a lateral radiograph to diagnose your case and know the cause. Of course, each case has a specific treatment.
